Coming in at sixth place, Shay competed against more than 70 other seventh grade runners in the Cross Country competition held in Jasper last week. Way to go!

Hemphill UMW Hosts Mission U!

Hemphill UMW hosted the School of Missions (Mission U) of the East District on Saturday, August 17, 2013. The Programs to be used for the coming year were presented by three focus groups. Poverty – Katherine Knight, District Social Action Officer; Jo Taylor – The Roma of Europe – Rev. Terry Smith – The Call: Living Sacramentally and Walking Justly. The meeting began at 9:30 am with a continental breakfast and getting acquainted time. Approximately 51 ladies attended. A luncheon of chicken salad, pasta salad and garden salad, beverages, and dessert was served to our guests. The program, luncheon and focus groups ended at 2:00 pm. The District Officers stayed for their regular meeting following the School of Mission meeting.
