Talent is God-given; be humble.
Fame is man-given; be thankful.
Conceit is self-given; be careful.

Widow’s Mite Club will meet Monday, August 3, 2015, at Hemphill First United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, at 5:30 p.m. Come join us. Bring a friend, or if you can’t come yourself, tell a friend about it. You are welcome at any time to join us. Each week we have added new ladies. Help us get the word out. We hope to see you all there.
Beginning August 10 the Firm Believers Exercise Class will re-group and begin again. The Firm Believers met at Hemphill First United Methodist Church under the direction of Barbara Watson in the past and will do so once again.
We will begin with low impact, chair, and floor exercises. There will be something for everyone. Come see what it’s all about. Class time: 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. If you are thinking that’s a little early, consider the early hour another challenge to your fitness.
This is for all underterminable age groups! Tell your friends about it and form a carpool from your neighborhood.
You will need an exercise mat for the floor exercises, good sturdy sneakers and a bottle of water. Come give it a try. We’re all in this together.
Need encouraging? Call Watson at 936-275-3082; if you can’t reach her, call the church office at 409-787-2183.
The reasons vary from church to church as to why 29 congregations in the Texas Annual Conference have said “yes” to enrolling in the Vibrant Church Initiative process over the last three years. For the VCI team here at First United Methodist Church Hemphill one of the reasons is the desire for our church to thrive instead of just survive.
We, the team members, are praying that others in our congregation will have the same vision and the interest in expanding our faith responses to enhance our discipleship opportunities.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8 ESV
“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.”
