We pray for these children

I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.

So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.”

And he worshiped the Lord there. 1 Samuel 1:27-28 (NIV)

Milton and Liz want to share the double blessings of their family with their church family.

Lyla Rose BriggsLyla Rose was born 11/23/14 and weighed 7lbs 5 ozs.

Tate Hunter BriggsTate Hunter was born 1/12/15, weighing 7 lbs 10 ozs.

As members of First United Methodist Church we promise the following:

With God’s help we will proclaim the good news

And live according to the example of Christ.

We will surround Lyla Rose and Tate Hunter

With a community of love and forgiveness,

That they may grow in their trust of God,

And be found faithful in their service to others.

We will pray for Lyla Rose and Tate Hunter,

That they may be true disciples

Who walk in the way that leads to life.

One Response to We pray for these children

  1. Tyler Briggs says:

Thank you all for praying for our precious daughter. My wife Lindsay and I walked through a few years of infertility as we did our best to patiently wait on the Lord’s timing. Lyla Rose is truly an answer to prayer and we are blessed to have so many people continuing to pray for our child that also prayed alongside us for so long. Through our journey with infertility, we were continually reminded that God is good. A verse that hard for me in the beginning of our struggle was Ps 84:11, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

This verse was hard to read at first as it felt like God was withholding something good from Lindsay and me. In our journey a blessing emerged, we became closer to God than we ever had been before. We realized that God alone is the good thing and that He was enough. A peace settled over us that allowed us to continue to love God and lover others in spite of the disappointment from not having a child. Then last March, we found out that we were expecting.

We know that Lyla is God’s daughter whom He knew before the foundation of the world and whom he formed in Lindsay’s womb. We are blessed that God has chosen us to shepherd this little girl’s life and pray that by God’s strength we will train her up in the way she should go so that when she is older she will not depart from it. Thank you again for your prayers and for being a community of believers for my parents. If you would like to hear more about our story, I had the opportunity to share it with our church family last summer. You can find the audio here:
