Ministries of our Church

As a church, we support numerous ministries.  Below is a list of most of those ministries.

· Worship Services – weekly / special days (Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, etc.)

· Bible Studies

· Prayer Shawl Ministry

· Vacation Bible School

· Nursing Home visitation with refreshments

· Church is available to outside functions with space to meet, utilities, janitorial services, kitchen supplies and/or office supplies, etc.:

v State Health Department

v Family Crisis Center

v Pineywoods Pick’rs practice and yearly jam session

v Golden Needles’ Quilters

v Empty Stocking

v Pink Pavement Princesses – Breast Cancer Group

v Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets

v Community Classes (Financial Seminar, Hunter Safety for youth, Defensive Driving for Seniors)

· Bereavement meals/ place for family/friends to gather

· Soup, Salad and Song during December

· HISD Back to School Teacher Luncheon/ Supplies

· Weekly Game Night – group also supports an HISD senior

· UM Army

· Donation to UMCOR

· Donation to HISD Education Foundation

· Donation to Operation Graduation

· High School Scholarships to graduating members

· Helping Hands in the HISD Cafeteria

· Mentoring at HISD

· Donation to Hemphill Volunteer Fire Department

· As a church, we support United Christian Services with a monthly dollar donation, also:

v Monthly collection of non-perishable food stuffs

v Weekly Volunteers at UCS facility

v Additional funds for School Supplies

v Funds for Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets

v Funds for Empty Stocking

v Volunteers for all aspects of Empty Stocking…cards, shopping, work day & distribution day

· UCS Appreciation Week

· Provide a playground- also available to the public

· Supply bottled water to band members during practice and on Band Contest trips

· Church Project Work Days

· United Methodist Women

v Greeting Card Ministry–2x month

v UMW Spiritual Retreat

v Donation to UMCOR and / or various kits as needed

v Donation to Methodist Children’s

· Participate in community activities as:

v Scare on the Square

v National Day of Prayer

 

It takes time, patience, planning, and yes, faith to have successes.

There ARE opportunities for each of us to minister to our community with our Prayers, our Presence, our Gifts, our Service, and our Witness.
