CALL TO PRAYER AND SELF-DENIAL
Prayer and giving have long been vital to the women’s organizations in the church. Each year United Methodist Women take a day in their calendar to support a cause which in turn funds projects both nationally and internationally. This year’s offering will support the Retirement Benefits Fund that provides pensions and health care benefits for retired United Methodist Women deaconesses and missionaries.
All women in the church are invited to attend the Call to Prayer and Self-Denial to be held in the parsonage on Tuesday, July 12. Fellowship time begins at 9:30 AM with the program and business meeting to follow at 10:00 AM.
Deaconesses and missionaries may be “retired” but are still serving faithfully in whatever area of the world that they have retired to. Their dedication to mission service and social justice is based on their devotion to Christ and his work with the marginalized in society.
Creator God, thank you for the gift of service and the lives of retired deaconesses and missionaries who are “called to serve and are serving still.” Amen.
